This movie will teach you how to easily manage the 'Daily News' Joomla template.
I. To start, you will need to log into your Joomla Admin Panel, Enter your details in the login form to do this.
II. Once you log in go to the Extensions tab of the main navigation bar and scroll down to the Template Manager section. Now you will see how to set Daily News as your default theme to replace the current one.
III. Select 'Daily News' from the list of Joomla templates already installed in your Admin Panel.
IV. When you have made your selection click the Default button located in the top right corner of your Joomla Panel. This will set the template a default skin for your Joomla site.
V. Now click on the template’s name link to start customizing you chosen template.
The first customization option is to change the Colour Variation of the template. The default colour theme of Daily News is RED. To preview the template with the RED theme ON,you will need to:
1. Click the Preview link in the top right corner and then open that page in a new tab, so that it does not interfere with any following updates you will have to make from the Joomla Admin panel later on.
2. If you want to change the default colour theme - you should go back to the Joomla Admin Panel first and then select a different colour, for example – BLUE, and then click the Apply button.
3. Reload the browser again to update the colour theme. Here is the new BLUE colour scheme as it will be displayed online .
You can also Display or Hide the Date on you’re news website.
1. Go back to the edit-template section of the Joomla Panel, select No in the Date Display area.
2. Click the Apply button to confirm your selection.
3. Go to the template preview page and reload your browser. You will see how the date displayed by default in the top left corner of your Daily News template is deactivated.
The next option is to Hide the Logo Area of the template
1. Go back to the Joomla Admin Panel and select yes for the Hide Logo option.
2. Click the Apply button to confirm your selection.
3. Click the Preview Template tab of your browser, then reload the page and see the logo area, which is activated by default, disappear from the template index.
Now let’s see how to Display the Logo Image of your template.
1. First you will need to reactivate the Logo Area, by selecting No for the Hide Logo option.
2. Click the Apply button to confirm your update.
3. Reload the template preview page to see the Logo Area of the template back to its default position.
Next we will show you how to Change the Logo Image for your Daily News site.
1. First go back to the edit-template section.
2. Select a logo image from the Logo Variation drop-down list (in our example this is a blue globe image)
3. Click the Apply button.
4. Reload your browser on the preview template page to force the logo image update online. Here you see the default newspaper image change to a blue globe image.
Now let’s see how to Deactivate the Top News display area.
1. Go back to the edit-template panel and select No from the Top News Display radio button. This will deactivate the Top News Display option. Click Apply to see the update online.
2. Return to the Template Preview page and refresh your browser. As you can see the Daily News template has disappeared from the template’s index along with the banner area.
The final option is to Edit the Top News Area.
1. To do that – you will need to reactivate the area first. Go back to the Joomla Admin Panel and enable the Top News Display option. You can do this by selecting yes and then clicking Apply to confirm the update.
2. Reload your browser on the Template Preview page, the Top News Area is now online with the text and banner area reactivated.
3. Fill in the title text for the top news of the day in the Top News Title field. To do this select the default top news title and replace with a custom one. You can do this anytime you need to change the Top News on your news portal.
4. Click the Apply button to confirm the change.
5. Return to the template preview page and refresh your browser to see the new top news title appear in place of the default one.
6. Go back to the template customization panel and enter the relevant news content in the Top News Content field. To do this simply overwrite the default top news content, replacing with any news content of your choice. Just like with the Top News Title – you will be able to edit the content in this field anytime you need to change the Top News on your news portal.
7. To confirm the changes click the Apply button.
8. Return to the Template preview page, and refresh your browser, the default top news content has now been set.
Here are all basic customization options supported by the Daily News template.
9 To save all customization updates – go to the Joomla Admin Panel and click the SAVE button.
